WINCHESTER, VA - The Winchester Fire Department is investigating after a local warehouse went up in flames Thursday night.
It happened at the Pro Lawn Warehouse. Officials say the fire was so heavy and thick, it had burned its way through the roof.
Employees say they did not know the building was on fire because the smoke detectors were not working. They say they were forced to evacuate through a second floor story window.
Firefighters say they had the blaze under control in about one hour. They say the warehouse will need extensive repairs before it reopens.
No one was hurt.
