CUMBERLAND, MD - It's where many come to relax, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and all the peace and quiet that comes with a vacation spot like the Rocky Gap Resort.

But lately some major construction has been going on at this haven near Cumberland.

At a press conference the Allegany County Commissioners announced that they had found a way to attract foreign investors to build a casino and even a convention center.

"This will allow them to expand what they're doing now to make a larger area for the gambling. They will also build an entirely new place for conventions and conferences which is very important to our county," says Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine.

The renovation of the casinos is underway while the new meeting space is in the planning stages.

When it's finished the casino will feature not just slots, but also table games like poker and black jack.

Local residents we spoke with say they're just glad to see something finally happening.

Commissioners say the investors who are the most interested right now are Chinese. One perk for them is they will get a permanent Visa for every million dollars they invest.

Commissioners say there are two other positives. The money invested may not have to be paid back and the casino project will mean 400 new jobs and a jackpot for the local economy.

But, of course, after the casino, the meeting place. That could be a long time of holding one's breath.
