FREDERICK, MD - The next time you need to hail a taxi all you need to use is your phone. Those with Yellow Cab of Frederick have kicked off their new taxi cab app.
The app allows you to book taxis right on your phone and see the distance, cost, and time of arrival. The taxi driver will then see the request on a tablet inside the cab.
Right now, the app is for android users, but the company should have it for iPhone users within a few weeks.
Yellow Cab co-owner Blaine Young, who's also a county commissioner, says his company is one of the first in the region to carry the app.
"They can order their cab from their phone. They no longer have to call us and talk to one of our call takers. They can literally order from their phone. It will give them estimated prices," says Young.
