SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV - The holiday spirit kicked off in Shepherdstown on Saturday with its annual Christmas parade and other family-friendly events.

Families gathered on the town's streets wearing festive colors and Santa hats. A living nativity scene drew a crowd standing by in awe of the costumes and animals, while singing Christmas carols.

One family WHAG spoke with says they look forward to this week all year.

"All the local high schools and elementary schools, Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts came, to get people into the town, promote Christmas spirit, shop local, and support Shepherdstown, a small town. It's to remember what Christmas is all about and why we're here," says Claire Greer, a Shepherdstown resident.

"This is a perfect town for Christmas," adds David Greer, a Shepherdstown resident.
