WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD - Police say a Hagerstown man has been charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Police say Xavier Tates is accused of invading a home last week and stabbing two men in
Hagerstown. It happened around 7:00 p.m. Tuesday November 20th in the 200-block of Frederick Street.

Police say Tates forced his way into the home while carrying a knife. Another suspect entered with Tates carrying a shot gun. They say Tates stabbed two men inside the home multiple times in the back. The two victims, Kenneth Platt Junior and Jason T. Baker, were taken to
Meritus Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Four other people were also inside the home at the time of the attack including two children who escaped unharmed through a window.

Court documents say the man with the shot gun has yet to be identified, he was described as black, six foot three, and about 250 pounds.

Tates is being charged with two counts of attempted degree murder, three counts each of first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, and robbery offenses.

Tates is currently being held at the
Washington County Detention Center with out bond. His preliminary hearing is set for December 8th.
