"I'm hoping people understand that buying locally is very important to do. Small businesses are the backbone of the towns," says Ellen Collins of Howard's Art Supplies & Frames.
At big retail stores the lots tend to be packed, but locals say it's about quality not quantity.
"I went to all the big stores like Lowe's and Home Depot. But Spicher's has a better reputation for service," says customer Wayne Wissinger.
Local businesses are confident their edge in customer service and other unique efforts will draw in good business for the community holiday this season.
Whether you're looking to get a new washing machine or a flat screen TV owners at small businesses say they take good care of their customers.
The president at Spicher's Supplies says they are right in the ball game of pricing, as they've teamed up with other manufacturers.
"We're excited because we can compete with everybody and we have personalized service to make the transaction the best it can be," says Spicher.
A community where small businesses are hoping to sell big.
