Salvation Army Celebrates Pre-Thanksgiving Through Praise

FRONT ROYAL, VA - The big turkey holiday is just a few days away and instead of collecting clothing, Virginia's Salvation Army did something a little different this time.

Since 1865, The Salvation Army has been known for its church leadership but many also recognize them as an organization collecting clothing and household items to help the needy.

With Thanksgiving around the corner, they took the time to cherish their purpose in a chapel.

"Salvation Army has two faces - one is spiritual and the other is social so that we are giving a spiritual guidance to the people as well as social, we are preparing them to meet the social needs through these services," says Priscilla Ramaji, commanding officer of Front Royal's Salvation Army.

The congregation was led by the officers and as a group, they sang hymns and donated canned goods to low-income families.

"Our congregation requested me to have an opportunity to thank God and it's biblical," says Pradeep Ramaji, husband of Priscilla and also a commanding officer.

Pradeep says his spiritual connection has been working.

"My father is in the hospital and he was almost fighting with death and yesterday I got the news that he's recovering and we pray and I'm thankful for that one reason," adds Ramaji.

Towards the end, members of the church were acknowledged for their community service with a thank-you gift.

Members were not only thanking one another but to who they preach as well.

The Front Royal Salvation Army will be hosting a community Thanksgiving dinner where they urge everyone to take part in the big feast. For more information on this event, click here.
