WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD -  Police say a Hagerstown man involved in a high speed chase with police has died.

The chase started around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday on Jefferson Boulevard near Antietam Drive in Hagerstown.

Police had pulled over a Dodge Neon for speeding, but as the deputy began walking to the vehicle the driver, Norman Frazier, suddenly drove off.

The chase ended when the Neon crashed into another vehicle and then hit a utility pole and burst into flames.

Police and another motorist pulled Frazier out of the burning vehicle.

He was then flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore where he later died.

Frazier's body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy

The four people in the other car were taken to Meritus Medical Center with minor injuries.
