People were able to drop off their unwanted medicines outside the Washington County Health Department. The event is aimed to reduce the rising rates of prescription drug abuse by getting it out of homes.
They also say not to flush out medicines down the toilet since it can go through the water streams. The medications dropped off will be burned instead of thrown out which can be harmful to the environment.
"We're seeing an increase throughout the country as far as the abuse of prescription medication," says Deputy Carly Hose, Washington County Sheriff's Department.
