HAGERSTOWN, MD - This year's Presidential Election has several hot topics at stake, including shaping the middle class of the future.
"Jobs: It's the number one issue facing this country, and it's what's really on voters' minds because I think they know that unless we can reverse the employment trends, the things we care about as a country are really at risk," says John Delaney, the Democratic Congressional Candidate for Maryland's Sixth District.
Delaney is hitting the campaign trail in Hagerstown, knocking on doors and meeting voters face to face. He says he feels confident that Maryland voters will come out and cast their ballots.
"We obviously feel terrible for all those people affected in New Jersey, New York, because it's really tragic, but we were very blessed to have it pass over. We think it will have no effect. The weather looks good for election day, so I think it's going to be a great turnout across all of Maryland," says Delaney.
But Hagerstown Resident, Kim Drees, says she's not hearing any election talk among her neighbors.
"It bothers me a little, I hope that people get out to vote because really, you can't get anything done if you don't get out there and vote for what you need to have put in. You don't put in, you can't get anything out of it," says Drees.
For months on end the campaign trail has been buzzing with volunteers working hard to secure those extra votes.
"There's so much excitement in all the people out canvassing. It's going to be a great day, it's sunny, and I just hope everyone gets to the polls," says April Delaney, wife of John Delaney.
"You have to vote. It's our right, and you need to get out and do it," reminds Drees.
Voters are making their final decisions as the count down continues until Election Day.
