FREDERICK, MD - Allowing deer hunting with a rifle and repealing the scooter helmet law are just some of the bills Frederick County Commissioners voted on Thursday morning.
"Commissioner Shreve put in that he wanted to have Frederick County exempt from the scooter helmet law," says Blaine Young, (R) - president of the Frederick County Board of Commissioners. "We included that, but we put a provision in there that it's for 18 years of age and older."
The board approved 15 county bills and 15 position statements for their 2013 legislative package.
"In my opinion, it reflects the will of the majority of the residents in Frederick County," Young said. "We want to make sure our delegation knows our positions as county commissioners representing all the residents."
Commissioners will present the package to the Frederick County Delegation on Friday, December 7, at 10 a.m., in the third floor hearing room of Winchester Hall.
The delegation will vote on which bills will head to Annapolis after holding a public hearing on Saturday, December 8, at 10 a.m., in the first floor hearing room of Winchester Hall.
Some other bills commissioners approved include a voter ID bill and a bill banning synthetic marijuana.
