On Monday, public works employees were cleaning up debris along the streets in Washington County, so rain water can flow smoothly into the sewage system to prevent flooding. Emergency services met with local and state officials to discuss final plans, from coordinating shelters to increasing emergency services personnel, with the focus on areas prone to excessive flooding.
"We look at the history of where we have seen the effects of long term flooding. We are basically going to look at those specific areas and identify strategies or procedures of what we are going to push out to residents." says Kevin Lewis, the Director of Washington County Emergency Services
Shelters are available at North Hagerstown High and Hancock Fire Department.
