High Wind Watch & Flood Watch Issued In Anticipation of Hurricane Sandy

HAGERSTOWN, MD - Hurricane Sandy is poised to make landfall in the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast early next week, but her effects will be felt for days before, and the National Weather Service has issued weather products to reflect the hazards from this storm.

The National Weather Service has issued a HIGH WIND WATCH for all the counties highlighted above from Monday Morning through Tuesday Evening.

Winds from 30-50 MPH with gusts as high as 60 MPH are possible as Sandy crosses the area from Monday into Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has also issued a FLOOD WATCH for all the counties highlighted above in anticipation of the amount of rain Sandy will bring.

Models are suggesting that we will see anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of rain with locally higher amounts, and that could lead to flooding problems over the entire area.
