Man Secretly Punctures Woman's Tire, Offers to Help Her

By: Pieter Bickford

MARTINSBURG, WV - Police are looking for a man who secretly flattened a woman's tire and then offered to help her "get home safely."

The woman told police she was driving out of the Sheetz store on West King Street when she backed over a homemade "stop stick" - a piece of cloth with several large nails driven through it and some type of glue holding it together, according to police.

As she was inspecting this, a white male with dark hair approached her, police say. She
noticed that he was in an older red and white truck, possibly a mid to late 80's
Chevrolet pick up. It also had some type of roll bar in the bed.

The male offered her assistance. He also offered to follow her home "so that she
would get home safely." She declined.

Surveillance cameras captured the man putting the "stop stick" under the woman's tire so that she would back over it.

"At this time it is unclear the suspect's exact ultimate intent," police said in release.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Martinsburg Police Dept (304 264 2100) or the Berkeley County Crime solvers (304 267 4999).
