"I started a business from scratch when I was 25. Started with a dirt floor. Worked really hard and was ultimately successful," says Maloney.
He cites his long career in the drilling business saying he knows what it is like to run companies both large and small.
"Small businesses is the backbone of the economy and we need to make it easier for all small businesses to be here. We pick too many winners and losers all the time and that's not the way you grow an economy. It should be about what you know. That's what this election comes down to," says Maloney.
A conservative and a family man, the republican candidate says West Virginia has fallen into a dark hole that he hopes he can lift it out of.
"We have the most beautiful state in the country. We need to promote our outdoor and get people using it. Become more healthy. And education is a huge issue. We've got to educate our children for jobs that are coming," says Maloney.
Maloney says he wants to improve education starting with local and parental control, and create an environment where people will stay and grow businesses.
