Melvin Smith Sentenced to Life in Prison

FREDERICK, MD- Melvin Smith has been sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole, for the 2011 murder of his ex-girlfriend.
Judge Theresa Adams issued the sentence Thursday in Frederick County Circuit Court. Smith shot his girlfriend Tranice Richardson last July outside the orchard Terrace Apartments. Investigators say Smith had been harassing her in the days before the murder, calling her more than 1,400 times in four days.
