RANSON, WV - In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, West Virginia's City Hospital and Jefferson Memorial Hospital are offering discounted mammograms for all women.
Each Saturday in October, and then again in May, women can schedule mammograms for only $60. Jefferson Memorial Hospital is the first in West Virginia to use 3-dimensional imaging technology; doctors say this helps them scan much more detailed images of a breast.
"There's no need for as many breast cancer deaths as there's been in the past, we can keep that from happening in the future with early detection. So it's very important," says Cassi Kline, the lead Mammo-tech at Jefferson Memorial Hospital's Women's Imaging Center.
Jefferson Memorial Hospital urges women to get an annual mammogram starting around the age of 40, or earlier if you have any breast cancer in your family history.
