CHAMBERSBURG, PA - Police have charged a 23-year-old man with murdering Calvin Beam, 18, in Chambersburg.

Steffawn Spriggs was captured by U.S. Marshals and Pennsylvania State parole agents in Harrisburg on September 19 - two days after Beam was shot to death.

Spriggs had been wanted for violating his parole when he left a halfway house in Harrisburg in July.

Spriggs is currently being held at SCI Camp Hill on the parole violation, but he will be returned to Chambersburg and arraigned on the murder charges, police said.

Spriggs was developed as a suspect early in the investigation, police said.  Detectives learned that Spriggs had fled the Chambersburg area shortly after Beam's death.

Chambersburg Chief of Police, David Arnold, says,  "We may never know the exact motive. Some homicide cases you get a conviction, but you don't know the motive. The important thing is, do you know if this is the person who did? And we feel very strongly that this is the person who committed the crime with all the evidence we've so far gathered together."

The investigation continues in regards to the circumstances leading up to and surrounding the crime.  Chief Arnold says Spriggs claims to be part of a gang called the Bloods, but they cannot yet determine whether or not the incident was gang-related.

He will be charged with first degree murder and several other charges.

The victim's funeral was Wednesday.
