WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD - A driver had to be flown out with serious injuries after his tractor-trailer crashed off Interstate 68 and trapped him inside.
Police say the truck was traveling eastbound near Hancock around 10:30 Monday morning, when it went off the road, and about 350 feet down an embankment.
The driver was trapped for about an hour before he was freed and flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
Crews are working to clean up diesel fuel and antifreeze that spilled around the wreckage.
"A 26 year old driver, Victor Dorose of Wheeling, Illinois was driving eastbound on 68 coming down off Sideling Mountain and for reason unknown at this time ran of the right side of the roadway," says Lt. Tom Woodward of Maryland State Police.
The load the truck was hauling was onions, which are now spread over the hillside.
