BERKELEY COUNTY, WV - A hiker is in serious condition after falling 40 feet from a cliff on a trail in West Virginia.

The accident happened Saturday afternoon on the Maverick Trail in Hedgesville.

Police say the hiker was in a heavily wooded area requiring two Maryland State Police helicopters to assist in the rescue.

A small area in a tree canopy was cut open to get the hiker out.

The victim was then transported to Winchester Medical Center.

You wouldn't be saying that if you had a hurt loved one. WV does assist MD at times too

Why is the MD state police helping out in WV. Does WV or the hiker reimburse MD for the cost of the helicopters?
