FREDERICK, MD - The 150th Great Frederick Fair wraps up Saturday, and organizers are calling it a huge success.

Last year, the fair had 30 rides, and this year, it has 42.

"We got some brand-new equipment. This Stinger here is something that's really drawn a lot of attention, the Mouse, and many of the other rides that have been updated have been a great contribution," said Jim Grimes, president of the Great Frederick Fair.

Turnout was up from previous years. Organizers credit that in part to the nice weather and a fair day falling on a Jewish holiday.

"With the exception of the Tuesday afternoon rain, which we had to close the fair for safety reasons, but beyond that, it has been unbelievable successful," Grimes said.

One of the biggest events was Friday night's performance by Scotty McCreery of American Idol. The food and motor sports also turned out to be big hits.

The fair board will meet in December to discuss plans for next year.
