KEARNEYSVILLE, WV - The CEO of the Hospice of the Panhandle, Margaret Cogswell, takes her first walk on the new roadway Hospice Lane.

The construction site is just across the street from the Food Lion on Charles Town Road. Project managers say the site is well on its way to becoming the new home of the Hospice of the Panhandle.

Cogswell says, "What we had was a vacant piece of land, essentially, and to see what's going to be our roads to see where our buildings are going to be, it's just it's hard to describe."

It's been three months since the groundbreaking ceremony. The main highlight will be the 14-bed inpatient Hospice House.

"We will still provide the majority of the care in the home because that's where people want to be," says Cogswell, "but those times when it doesn't work, we want them to come to the best place possible."

Construction of the Hospice House isn't planned to take place until December.

Nick Hill, Vice President of Callas Contractors, says, "It's been many hours of work and planning and coordination with the architect and the owner representatives to get everything on paper in the permitting process and now we're ready to dig the dirt."

With winter just a season away and a few months behind what they originally planned, the bulldozers are busy working to meet their 2014 deadline.

"It's a big change for our organization," says Cogswell. "I believe that we are preparing and we will be ready for that change and we are truly driven by serving the people of this local county."

A project that started off as just a vision is now a reality as the Hospice continues building the dream.
