Zion Baptist Church Participates in Back to Church Sunday

BERRYVILLE, VA - One of the largest annual community outreach in the nation - Back to Church Sunday, took place today in Berryville.
Many churches celebrated the large community outreach by sharing the simple message and mission of inviting America back to church.
Mt. Zion Baptist Church was one to participate in this national campaign.
Its purpose was to empower churches, church members, and neighbors to bring spiritual renewal into their daily lives.
Pastor Delbert Hicks says it does not matter what background anyone comes from, but it is simply a chance for everyone to connect with themselves mentally and spiritually.
"My heart's desire is for all men to come into the revelation of their faith so this campaign just reaches out to renew and remind people of promises that were made to their faith," says Hicks.
This campaign targets the community by extending a personal invitation to church.
According to a national website, last year, "7600 churches participated, welcoming an average of 34 new visitors and a 25 percent increase in church attendance was seen."
Bryon Johnson just finished his new member's class at Zion three weeks ago.
"As just as Christians, just as members of the community, is to uplift, give a message of hope, a message of encouragement," says Johnson.
This campaign was formed by Outreach, Inc, an organization formed in 1996 that seeks to provide churches with outreach products.
A survey shows that people are more likely to attend church if they are given an invitation and usually, they end up bringing someone else along.
