Cumberland City Police:

On January 1, 2012 an officer from the Cumberland City Police Department was on patrol in the area of Mechanic Street when he heard a female yelling for help.   As the officer drove by the intersection of Mechanic Street and Pershing Street he observed two males fighting outside Niner's Pub.   The officer was able to break up the fight by placing both males into handcuffs.   During an investigation into the matter, officers spoke with several witnesses in the area.   Officers were advised that one male subject was walking down the street when, Antonio Maurice Smith accused him of having a relationship with his girlfriend.  According to the witnesses, Smith walked up to the subject and punched him in the face.   The victim was able to fight back in self defense before the officer broke up the fight.   As a result of the altercation, Antonio Smith was placed under arrest and taken to the Cumberland City Police Department for processing.

As a result of the arrest, Antonio Maurice Smith was charged with, 2nd degree assault and disorderly conduct.   Smith was taken before the District Court Commissioner and later released on his own recognizance.
