By: Jennifer Mullen and Ava-joye Burnett
Updated: December 14, 2011

WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD - A Washington County man could get up to 20 years in prison after officials say he made a fake hand grenade and left it in his apartment.

Deputies and a landlord found the device at the apartment at the 14,000 block of MacAfee Hill Rd. in Fort Ritchie, Tuesday afternoon.

Officials found the device as they were issuing an eviction notice.

Bomb technicians were called to the apartment and later found the device was fake.

The tenant, Philip Taylor has been arrested. Taylor could spend up to 20 years in prison and/or get a $20,000 fine for making a fake destructive device.
