Frederick Police:
INCIDENT/ INFORMATION:
On this date members of the Frederick Police Department Drug Enforcement unit were conducting surveillance in the 1100blk. Orchard Terrace. Officers observed three suspects they believed were involved in drug activity at this location. As the suspects exited the area in a vehicle, officers initiated a traffic stop when the suspects committed a traffic violation.
Once officers contacted the driver of the vehicle, they immediately detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Officers detected the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the driver and placed him under arrest. During a search of the vehicle officers located a marijuana cigarette inside the driver's door. Additionally, officers located a quantity of marijuana in the center console of the vehicle. The front passenger who was identified as Nathan Waller was placed under arrest.
The rear passenger Ronald Wilson was placed under arrest when CDS paraphernalia was located at his feet during the search. All suspects were transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
Maryland State Police are investigating a Burglary which occurred at a private residence located on 12005 Town Creek Road Flintstone, Maryland. The Burglary occurred sometime between 11-30-2011 from 6:00 pm through 12-01-2011 at 3:30 pm when the occupants were not home. The unknown suspect(s) made forced entry to the rear of the residence and stole currency and jewelry. Anyone with information is asked to contact Tfc. M. D. On Friday, 12/02/2011, 43 year old Terry Allen Craig, of Cumberland, was arrested in Charles County, Maryland based on a warrant that Investigators with the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) had obtained for his arrest for his involvement in the assault, stabbing, and robbery of a cab driver in Cumberland on 11/16/2011.
On Wednesday, 11/16/2011, at approximately 4:00 AM, the Cumberland Police responded to the 400 block of Mechanic Street after receiving a call for a subject who had been assaulted. When Officers arrived they located the victim, who was suffering from numerous stab wounds to the chest, neck, and head area. The Cumberland Fire Department ambulance also responded and began immediate treatment of the victim's wounds. The victim was then transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for further medical treatment.
Officers were able to obtain limited information from the 52 year old male victim at that time, but did learn that he was working as a cab driver during the assault. According to the victim, he had picked up a fare in front of Rose's Department Store earlier that morning, and while transporting him, the suspect attacked him with an unknown sharp edged weapon. The suspect then took an undisclosed sum of cash and fled on foot.
A Cumberland Police Department K-9 Officer and dog responded to the scene. A search was conducted of the area, but the suspect was not located at that time.
C3I Investigators conducted further investigation, which included interviews of numerous witnesses and the review of surveillance video, which led to the identity of Craig as the suspect.
Craig has been charged with Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, 1st Degree Assault, Theft, and related charges. C3I Investigators traveled to Charles County on Friday afternoon, and are returning Craig to Cumberland for processing and an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner on the charges.
Waynesboro Police:
On November 30, 2011 at approximately 2225 hours an officer from the Waynesboro Police Department was in a marked police vehicle and was traveling south in the unit block of South Potomac St. I observed a vehicle emerge for Gay Street. and turn north on South Potomac Street. The vehicle was traveling eastbound on Gay Street. Gay Street. is designated for westbound traffic only. The officer pulled into a parking lot to turn around so that I could initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle. While the officer turned around the vehicle was observed to make right hand turn onto West Main Street. The traffic light that the vehicle was facing had a steady red signal. There is a sign in place prohibiting right hand turns on red. The vehicle also did not use its turn signal.
The vehicle was stopped at a red light in the square. When the light turned green, the vehicle proceeded eastbound on East Main Street. The vehicle did not pull over emergency lights and siren. The vehicle continued for approximately two and one half blocks and then turned south onto Clayton Avenue. The vehicle made a left hand turn into the parking lot of Pizza Hut located at 300 East Main Street.
The vehicle was a gold colored Kia Optima bearing Pennsylvania registration. Contact was made with the driver, a Jessica Deavers (26 y.o.a.) of 18 West North Street; Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was coming from the vehicle. An open can of Bud Light sitting in the middle console cup holder. Deavers acknowledged she stated that she did not have a driver's license. A series of sobriety test was conducted on Deavers. Based on the officers observations and field sobriety test it was believed Deavers was incapable of safe driving. Deavers was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.
It was also discovered that the registration for Deavers' vehicle and drivers license were both suspended. Deavers' was not able to provide proof of insurance for the vehicle. Deavers' was transported to the Franklin County Jail.
Jessica Deavers is being charged with Driving under the influence of alcohol- General Impairment, Driving Under the Influence- Highest Rate of Alcohol, Operation Following Suspension of Registration, Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked, Required Financial Responsibility, One Way Roadways, Traffic Control Signals and Restriction on Alcoholic Beverages.
