Shepherdstown's Holiday Festivities Kick Off on 250th Anniversary

Santa Claus showed up in Shepherdstown to kick off the celebration.
People from here take a lot of pride in their unique town. Founded by Thomas Shepherd in 1734, it was first called Mecklenburg, Va.
Now, Shepherdstown, W. Va. is widely considered one of the best kept secrets of the area. It's known for its scenery, quaint atmosphere and shepherd university.
It's also considered the oldest city in West Virginia. Now they're inviting everyone to come celebrate their anniversary with them through during the holiday season.
"Well, I've lived in and around Shepherdstown for close to thirty years now, and I've never been to a Christmas celebration so i figured it was about time," says Ian McBride, a Shepherdstown resident.
