HAGERSTOWN, MD - Two people were arrested after crashing into a cemetery Tuesday morning.

Police arrested Maria McMellen and Travon Brown after a high speed chase. Police say Brown, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, was driving as fast as 80 MPH in a 25 MPH zone during the chase.

According to police, the pursuit started on Northern Avenue after Brown refused to stop when police tried to pull him over.

After crashing into two head stones at Rest Haven Cemetery, police say Brown ran away.

Police arrested McMellen on the scene and later arrested Brown on Pennsylvania Ave.

Brown has been charged with numerous traffic violations and driving under the influence.

McMellen has been released from police custody.
