Police Log: 11/11/11

Cumberland Police Department:

On November 10, 2011 at 5:46 A.M. the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 445 Cumberland Street for a reported theft.   When the officer arrived at the residence, he learned from the caller, that his vehicle was entered during the early morning hours from an unknown suspect.   Several items that were inside the car were scattered on the city street.   The unknown suspect or suspects stole the face plate that belonged to the car radio.

On November 10, 2011 at 6:37 A.M. the Cumberland City Police Department responded to 701 Gephart Drive for a destruction of property complaint.   When the officer arrived at the residence, he made contact with the complainant who advised him that his vehicle had the driver side window shattered.   The complainant advised the officer that the damage occurred some time over night.

The Cumberland City Police is requesting assistance with these cases and is asking anyone with information to contact CPD at 301-777-1600.  

The Cumberland City Police would also like to remind citizens to take precautions against thieves by making sure that their vehicles are securely locked with the windows up when left unattended.   Citizens are also urged to call the police if they observe anyone acting suspicious possibly tampering with vehicles in their neighborhood.

CDS Arrest

On November 10, 2011 a Cumberland City Police Officer observed a vehicle being operated with expired registration plates on Interstate 68 westbound and stopped the vehicle near the Willowbrook Rd on ramp.   The officer contacted the operator, McArthur Lynn Moore 3rd, and notified him of the violation.   During the course of the stop the officer observed a black pipe in the center console in plain sight.   The officer recognized the pipe to be drug paraphernalia.   During a probable cause search of the vehicle, the officer also located a cellophane baggie containing Percocet pills, a scheduled narcotic.   Moore was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland City Police Department.

As a result of the arrest, McArthur Lynn Moore 3rd was charged with, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession not marijuana.   Moore also received several traffic citations as a result of the traffic stop.  Moore was later taken before the District Court Commissioner and released on his own recognizance.
