NOON NEWSMAKER: Kids are Heroes - Felicia Promotes Literacy

WHAG's hero for the month of March is Felicia.
Felicia is a Frederick County Middle School student. She organizes children book drives along with her two siblings. The purposes of the book drives are to promote child literacy.
Since 2006 Felicia has been instrumental to Give a Book (GAB) either as the organizer or as an assistant in collecting and sorting.
In 2009, she empowered 202 Wolfsville Elementary Students, and the community, in the donation of 2,350 books. Those books were distributed among Head Start's classrooms and among 265 children and famileis enrolled to use in their homes.
Felicia assisted in the collecting of 300 books during the summer of 2010 benefiting Ottobine Elementary in Dayton Virginia.
Currently Felicia is organizing a children's book drive at her local middle school along with Wolfsville Elementary School.
In all, GAB has collected and distributed over 3,500 books with a value of over $25,000.
