RANSON, WV - A Harper's Ferry man was arrested Monday after trying to rob a bank in Ranson and then leading police on a high speed chase through Berkeley and Jefferson counties.

West Virginia State Police say Mark Haines tried to rob a teller at the drive thru for City National Bank off Route 9 on Monday afternoon.

Authorities also say when Haines was captured he was driving a white Dodge pick-up that was stolen from the Martinsburg Holiday Inn on Monday afternoon.

After a 20 min chase, Haines was taken into custody just outside Shepherdstown off Route 45. Authorities say spikes were deployed in order to flatten all four of Haines' tires.

Although authorities have not officially linked Haines to another 3 bank robberies in WV and  MD, last week, his mugshot does look similar to a surveillance photo of taken of the suspect in those cases.
