MARTINSBURG, WV - The 31st Annual Mountain State Festival is underway. The event started Thursday and will continue into the weekend.
West Virginia is no stranger to apples. In fact, the state is the fourth largest producer in the U.S., so it is no surprise that this festival is centered around the red fruit.
"The main goal of this festival is to emphasize the history of this area and to highlight the key role that the apple has played in that agricultural background," says Ed Wilson, Apple Harvest Festival board member.
This coronation ball will take place Friday at the Historic Apollo Theatre, followed by the Grand Parade in Martinsburg, W. Va.
