The station is expanding with more news each week and more news from different areas.
Next week, the cities of Leesburg, Berryville and Winchester in Virginia, people will be seeing a lot more reporters.
WHAG is opening a new bureau in northern Virginia meaning more news coverage for our viewers in this area.
That's not the only change that will be hitting the airwaves.
"We're about to embark on some major program changes, most specifically changing our news operation," says Hugh Breslin, the general manager of WHAG. "We're going to be adding about 11 hours of additional, local news."
Starting August 30th, when you turn on WHAG, you'll find more local news with an additional half hour to our noon and 5 p.m. newscasts. There will also be another half hour of news at 7 p.m.
"A lot of folks get home a lot later now, so 7 p.m. is going to be an ideal newscast for them to catch up on what's going on locally," says Mark Kraham, WHAG's news director.
For the weekend, a morning edition of local news has also been added in addition to the evening weekend report.
"Seven days we'll be providing the first look at the area's news," says Breslin.
These changes mean WHAG's staff is growing too.
A northern Virginia bureau will keep our shows full of news affecting that region.
"As we serve the four-state area, it's probably the area that we have not had the ability to get to on a day-to-day basis, as often as we would like to do so," says Breslin.
"The four-state area is very interdependent on each other, some people work in one area, volunteer in another and live in another," says Kraham.
"Their confidence in us has allowed us to grow," says Breslin. "That's really exciting for [us] at the station, our staff, but also for the community at large."
WHAG's extended coverage in the northern Virginia area means we will be looking for stories that affect viewers in this region.

Second: I know everyone over age 55 is going to be flipping the channel come 7 o'clock in search of Wheel of Fortune, so say goodbye to those viewers! As for myself, I sat through local ads just to watch Jeopardy in high-def; now, I'll have to turn to ABC to get my intellectual fix. From the billboards around town, I would have thought these two programs were popular. What happened?
