Area Residents & Letter Carriers Work to Stamp Out Hunger

FREDERICK COUNTY, MD - Letter carriers picked up extra weight by taking weight off the shoulders of those who are struggling to pay their bills.

100 postal workers in Frederick County collected 15,000 pounds of food for the 18th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

Postal customers put non-perishable food outside their mailboxes for carriers to pick up.

1,300 people in the county go hungry, and this number has doubled over the past two years.

Tricia Fout who donated food, said, "I'm glad that my family is able to afford things so we can give back.  I know if I were in their situation, I would want someone to donate just some cereal or something little like soup just to know that I'm cared about."

You can still donate food even if you missed the drive.

Just call the Religious Coalition at 301-606-0668 or click here.  Organizers will connect you with a food bank in your area.
