FRANKLIN COUNTY, PA - Tourists to the four state region can now visit Franklin County, without ever stepping foot in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Civil War trails are now available online.

Visitors can use Google Earth to explore historic locations in the south central portion of the Keystone State such as the John Brown house, James Buchanan's birthplace and Renfrew Park.

The web site provides photos and detailed information of each stop.  Officials say the technology has been a great help to tourism in Franklin County.
"You can plan your itinerary online and then just book your stay and come visit," says Janet Pollard with the Franklin County Visitor's Bureau.  "You can turn a browser to a visitor just like that."

Members of the Pennsylvania Civil War Trails team worked with officials at NASA, Google Earth and Carnegie Mellon University to make this project possible.

The Pennsylvania Civil War Trails can be viewed at www.pacivilwartrails.com.
