Charges Filed Against Hagerstown Man Accused In Fatal Hit & Run

Fatal Accident in Downsville, MDDOWNSVILLE, MD - Charges have been filed against a Hagerstown man accused of fatally hitting a pedestrian lying in the middle of the road on Sunday on Downsville Pike.

The driver, 21-year-old Eric Worthy, is accused of hitting 50-year-old Kevin Luff, also of Hagerstown.

Worthy faces several charges, including negligent driving and failure to remain at the scene on an accident, after he left to call 911.

Damage to Worthy's car supports the argument that Luff was laying in the road when he was hit, and sheriff's deputies say evidence at the scene says that Luff had been previously hit by another car.

Luff was taken to Washington County Hospital where he later died.

Washington County Sheriff's Deputies are not sure why Luff was in the road, but they do know he had been staying at theRescue Mission on Prospect Street, and had not shown up to work a few weeks before his death.

They are asking anyone with information on Luff's recent activities before the accident to call them.
