WINCHESTER, VA- Next week will mark the 50th anniversary of country-music legend, Patsy Cline's death. She had hits like "Walkin' After Midnight" and "I Fall to Pieces." Patsy Cline was a gift to country music and Winchester's golden star.

"Winchester can take a lot of pride. A lot of pride in Patsy Cline," says JudySue Huyett-Kempf, the executive director of the Patsy Cline Historic House. "The music that she sang, it was personal. It was felt It was from the heart and a lot of the fans say, it was from the gut."

Born and raised in Winchester, Virginia Patterson Hensley spent her young adult years in a house on North Kent Street before she became the music great, Patsy Cline. "Those that knew her personally from the area, her family as well as her close friends, describe her as a warm giving, happy person," Huyett-Kempf says.

Cline died tragically in a plane crash in 1963. Now 50 years later, her legacy will be commemorated through a week-long tribute.

The week will consist of tours at the Patsy Cline Historic House, a Celebration of Life reception, and a memorial service at the Omps Funeral Home. It starts March 5th, the date of her death and runs until March 10th, the date of her burial.

"It's awareness. It's celebration. We're remembering her in every way we can," Huyett-Kempf.
