Good News For Your Electric Bill After Hagerstown Public Meeting

During the public hearing portion, a handful of lot owners shared their concern about a City Zoning Ordinance that went into effect last fall. The ordinance says car sales facilities must be at least 40,000 square feet.
City officials also discussed the possible annexation of a property on Delwood Avenue. An attorney advised to not go through with it, but the mayor says he welcomes any, and all annexations.
Also, some good news for residents who pay their electricity through "City Lights." They can expect to see about a 10 percent decrease on their bill.
"What was the 1943 boundaries for the City of Hagerstown, everybody still has City lights, so that enables our utilities director, basically, buy power in bulk," says Mayor David Gysberts, City of Hagerstown. "Sort of like when you go to Sam's Club and you buy stuff in bulk it's a lot cheaper."
City officials say they'll address the zoning ordinance for car sales businesses during a future work session.
