Frederick, MD- Mini golfers HIT the greens to raise some green for the community. They're playing 9 holes, each at a different establishment downtown.
"It feels great to keep it
local, keep it in
"Stats show local money spent locally stays in that local community, so we're excited to be able to do this for a great cause," say event sponsor John Stolins, of the Flying Dog Brewery.
Event proceeds support different organizations in the community that help people with disabilities and their caregivers.
Organizers say one of the events the money from mini golfing supports is Karaoke Buddies.
"Our big signature and favorite event is Karaoke Buddies, which is a monthly karaoke held for people with special needs and that is a tremendous event, and life changing," says event organizer Denise Phelps, of the Frederick Civitan Club.
People say they're happy to gather with friends in the community, and support people with developmental disabilities, as well as the local economy.
"That's the whole point of doing this, so when you can combine something generous like this as well as having a good time, that's what it's all about," says Stavale.
Organizers say more than 200 people came out to support the cause, and that they raised nearly 15 thousand dollars.
The Frederick Civitan Club was founded in 19-47 and will use the proceeds for a variety of events that are in need of funding, to help people with disabilities.
