The Martinsburg City Hospital officially opened its Cancer and Infusion Center on Thursday at the Dorothy McCormack building.
The center includes five exam rooms, a dozen patient chairs for chemotherapy, infusions and a pharmacy. It's described as a state of the art facility with a serene surrounding to help patients in their recovery.
Hospital officials say staff and patients will greatly benefit from the hospital addition.
"The design, the layout and lighting are all designed to lift the spirits of the patients," says Doctor Eric Bonnem, of Martinsburg City Hospital. "The comment that we get from the patients is that is that the surroundings have had that effect and it seems to lift them up."
The center can treat more than 60 patients on a daily basis.
