Officials at Hendershots Sporting Goods say the background check generally takes seven days, but some of their customers say it's been taking up to 24 days.
They say they've had an increase in gun sales since the President's debate over gun control regulations.
They expect their sale to steady in the coming weeks simply because their inventory can't keep up with the demand.
"The State Police normally take between seven to ten days to process the handgun paperwork for the background checks, so, right now we've been waiting anywhere from 14 to 28 days to get that processed. So it's taking quite a bit longer than normal at the present time," says Lance Hendershot.
