HAGERSTOWN, MD - The new mayor and city council elects of Hagerstown gathered to go over a few items before officially taking office next week.

Mayor elect David Gysberts led the meeting. Each city council member explained their vision of the city's future and what improvements they'd like to see in the next four years.

Council members were also assigned to boards and commissions , like councilman Lewis Metzner on traffic and parking. Councilman Brubaker wasn't in attendance because of an illness.

"They're very concerned about public safety and infrastructure and strengthening our neighborhoods," says Gysberts. "The melp, the old melp, the municipal electric light plant came up from every single person here."

The new mayor and city council will be sworn in on Monday night.
