The Chief Infection Control Officer from the hospital led the seminar on germs and viruses. He explained how to protect yourself from infections and why certain infections may occur like the recent meningitis outbreak.
This is all part of a community mini-medical school program that takes place once a month.
"It's to make a connection between healthcare and the community, to help show people exactly what it is that we do and how we can foster a better understanding," says Matthew Simmons, M.D. Infectious Disease. "We feel that education is the key to good partnership between patients and physicians."
The next mini-medical school program is in January and free to the public.
