Out of State Power Companies Helping to Restore Power

By: Bejoy Joseph
Updated: October 31, 2012
FREDERICK, MD-Power may be restored in our area sooner than expected thanks to outside help.

Power crews from North Carolina, Indiana, and Georgia are in Maryland and West Virginia helping to get the lights back on to nearly 35,000 homes affected by Hurricane Sandy.  Utility workers met in Frederick and were then dispersed.  Officials say they'll log 16 hours shifts, working round the clock.

"Potomac Edison needs to reach out and get these kinds of extra hands because we don't have enough, no utility company has enough to handle this when you have a such a big storm," says Todd Myers of First Energy.

At this point officials say it's unknown how long the additional crews will be working in our area, but they say the crews will work until everyone has power.
