LFCC Hosts Second Annual Spring Show

MIDDLETOWN, VA- Vanilla was considered a drink and polka dot leggings was a fashion statement at the Lord Fairfax Community College, where their second annual spring show was held.

"We've got hilarious skits, and the characters that come out on stage are just ... I have a hard time keeping a straight face a lot of times and I know the people I can't act with because they are so funny," says Sarah Ryker, student activities specialist and performer.

While it was laughter for the audience, it was a chance for the student performers to shine.

"It was an opportunity for students to get together and perform and have a space and a time where they can actually do that kind of performance so it's really an opportunity to let the students shine," says Greg McDonald, librarian at the college.

They say this show has given some students a big self esteem boost.

"The most important thing about the show is that the students come into it and they are one person and then over the course of the week, and through the shows, they turn into someone completely different. Their confidence goes up, they sing louder, they smile brighter," adds Ryker.

Continuing a life long tradition since the 70s, they wish to keep the lights shining bright.

If you missed this year's show, LFCC will be hosting it again next year along with many upcoming events that will be listed on their campus website.
