FREDERICK, MD- Traffic was backed up on northbound 1-270 and westbound I-70 Thursday night after a tractor trailer crash ended in a massive oil spill.

It happened around 10:37 p.m.

Police say Igor Pajitnov, 60, of Ontario, Canada, was driving when he rear-ended his Volvo tractor trailer into the back of another tractor driven by Allen Wrenn, 53, of Jamestown, MC.

Wrenn's truck has stopped on the highway due to heavy traffic from another accident on northbound I-270 near new Design Road.

Pajitnov's vehicle suffered extensive damage and leaked a large amount of oil onto the highway.

The road was partially closed for about 30 minutes while crews worked to contain the spill and clean up debris. The center lanes remained closed while a sand truck from the State Highway Administration cleaned up the fluids. The roadway completely reopened at 1 a.m.

Luckily, both drivers were not injured in the crash. Charges are pending against Pajitnov.
