FREDERICK, MD - The Downtown Frederick Partnership made this month's theme fire and ice.

People came out to check out ice sculptures. Organizers say more than 80 shops, galleries and restaurants stay open until 9pm or later for First Saturday.

The idea is to get people out and about in the downtown area, checking out local businesses. Art exhibits, live music, and ice carving demonstrations helped greet attendees, and showcase the best of downtown frederick.

"I saw a buddy from college, everyone comes down here, it's just the tradition of Frederick. If you're from Frederick you come down, you see the sights, you hear the sounds, you hear all the cars passing behind you. And if your not from Frederick you enjoy it because you get to see something most place don't have," says Nick Parks of Frederick.

Free hot cocoa and s'mores were available to those who braved the cold. Over 40 ice sculptures lines the streets.
