Reported by: Scott Hershberger Thursday, Nov 26, 2009 @05:34pm EST CHAMBERSBURG, PA - It's been more than a year since NBC 25 first told you about Shot in the Dark comics, an independent comic book company created here in the Four State Region.Since then, the nation's struggling economy has been a cause for concern for many businesses, but Shot in the Dark is still going strong. The company was created by Gene Tipton and Frank Dunbar, but others have joined the team as writers, editors and artists. "Raphael" and "Element," two new Shot in the Dark series, are scheduled to be released in 2010. Writers are also currently providing comic adaptations of a book of short horror stories. They're not making much money, but they say that's not what it's all about. John Mizzer, the editor-in-chief, said, "It's a labor of love right now. Everybody's doing it because it's something we enjoy, something we believe in, and we're standing behind to get the process started." Although the "Raphael" comic series is not expected to be released until next year, a limited number of copies of the first issues are available at Comics World in the Chambersburg Mall. |
