Reported by: Jamie Burke Wednesday, Nov 25, 2009 @07:03pm EST SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV - The White House Christmas tree was cut down from its perch on Wednesday at a local farm.
The owners of the Sundback Farm in Shepherdstown chose a 14-year-old Douglas Fir to be displayed in the Blue Room at the White House. The 18 1/2 foot tree was cut down, wrapped up to protect the branches, and placed on the truck that will take it safely to Washington, D.C. Michele Obama will officially welcome the tree on Friday. "It's a presentation in front of the White House with the wagon and the tree and the Clydesdales. It's impressive," Eric Sundback describes. Gloria Sundback adds, "They have a green wagon and it was first used for the Reagans, I believe, and we had trees that have took that ride." This is the fourth time the Sundbacks have provided a tree for the White House. |
