Reported by: Nikki Burdine Wednesday, Nov 18, 2009 @05:45pm EST HAGERSTOWN, MD - It's often referred to as the world's largest Christmas project, where good Samaritans collect shoe-boxes filled with gifts to send to children overseas.
These children suffer from natural disaster, war, terrorism, disease, famine and poverty, and live in more than 100 different countries all over the world. It's called Operation: Christmas Child. It's through an organization called the Samaritans Purse, and over the years more than 69 million gift-filled shoe boxes have been sent. The project is collecting shoe-boxes filled with toys from now until November 23rd. PA Armaclad, Inc. 6806 Anthony Hwy Waynesboro, PA First Baptist Church 7 Sunny Way Thurmont, MD Those wishing to put together a box should include a variation of school supplies, toys, necessity items, hard candy and a letter of encouragement.
